Death for a Cause: How Much is Too Much??

During the French Revolution people fought for fraternity, equality and liberty.  At the height of the Revolution was a period called the Reign of Terror led by the Committee of Public Safety and Maximillian Robespierre.  Thousands of people died in the name of liberty. In your opinion, is it every justifiable for people to be killed in the name of freedom?  Explain.
